Melbourne Storm survive Bulldogs scare to stay unbeaten in 2024

Recruits add steel to Dogs but class shines through for Storm

Canterbury-Bankstown came within two points of toppling last year's NRL premiers the Melbourne Storm in a pulsating contest at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs were back within striking distance down 10-6 when Josh Addo-Carr showed his turn of foot to accelerate away from Storm fullback Nick Meaney and score under the posts.

Canterbury had a chance to level the scores with just minutes remaining but were denied when Matt Burton's field goal attempt sailed just wide.

The Storm held on for a 16-14 victory to remain the only unbeaten team in the competition after six rounds.

The Bulldogs were gallant in defeat and showed they are building something special under coach Cameron Ciraldo.

The Storm have won eight of their past nine matches against the Bulldogs, including the 2023 preliminary final.

Melbourne will be looking to continue their winning ways when they host the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

The Bulldogs will return home to face the Sydney Roosters at Accor Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
